Saiko Tackle: Skinny water sessions

Well after months of solid rain in Queensland the weather has finally shined for some extended periods allowing us to get out and see what the skinny water has been holding. Being our first trip out since the QLD floods it was very shocking to see the damage to some of our favourite Bass water. But for all the destruction the stream has forged new paths and waterways for us to enjoy. The biggest test was always going to be finding fish though, we had heard mixed reports that a hot bite was hard to come by.

And that's pretty much how it went. We had to work very hard for our fish whilst navigating completely new sections of water and bushland. It did however give us an opportunity to play with plenty of different new models we have in store such as the Cranka Crank and the Ecogear CX40 HS. We even tossed a few of the new Sebile lures we have in stock.

Over a period of two trips we landed about 10 fish most of them between the 15cm and 20cm mark. With the occasional fish over 35cm. The standout lures by far were the Ecogear CX40 HS and the very new Cranka Cranks. Both of these lures are fast becoming my favourite Crank baits because they work in an area we like to call the magic depth of skinny water fishing, between 1 and 2 metres. In snaggy country we used the Cranka Cranks because they allowed us to roll them over logs, rocks and other nasties that can claim a deeper diver. And where we knew there was open water we worked the deeper running CX40 HS. This allowed us to cover a lot of options which is your best bet when fishing new water. We also took the camera out and took some footage and the video will be released on our youtube channel in the coming week.
