Cranka's NEW Crank..coming soon

It's been a while between news posts so first of all, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to hearing from all our customers about their holiday fishing adventures. Whilst the weather up north has been a little wet to say the least, we hope you guys south of the border had some cracking sessions.

With the new year upon us, we are very excited about what is in store for us next year (literally speaking). First of the rank in the new year is a brand new and highly anticipated lure from Dan and Steersy of Cranka Lures. This is the Cranka Crank. We loved the first offerings by these guys and they have been very popular in our store. If this is anything to go by then these are sure to be a hit amongst both tournament and recreational anglers alike.

One thing you are definitely going to love about the Cranka Crank is the colour range. Dan and Steersy work very hard to make sure they have a wide selection of colours so that we can all pick our favourites. I must say I am having a hard time limiting my choice because quite frankly all the colours are amazing. At 35mm they are the perfect size for estuary and skinny water fishing, and we can't wait to put some in the tank test to see how they swim.

Well with that said, here are a few pictures to wet your appetite. This is a bit of a teaser, so you will have to wait till early next year before they hit the store.

Have a great new year guys, we hope it brings you more fishing challenges and more PB's.

Ecogear CX40 HS and PX55f Now in Stock

Arriving in this week is some exciting new products from Ecogear. These are the CX40 HS and the PX55f. The CX40 HS is the highly anticipated fusion between the popular SX and CK series, bringing everything that was great about both lures into one amazing design. These lures are beautifully designed, well balanced and you can cast them a mile. They have a tight wobble coupled with twitches and pauses make this lure deadly in the water. You can see a good look of the action in the video we have done for them. These are going to be dynamite on Bream and Flathead, but we are most excited about how well these will perform in creek and stream Bass fishing, with a tight action and unique internal rattles we can see these are going to go a long way to catching a lot of bass for us in the next 12 months and beyond.

The PX55f is the older brother of the PX45f, with the new model being a little heavier and 10mm longer. This upgrade to the size and weight addresses plenty of applications that just couldn't be achieved with the 45mm version. For example the PX55f will allow you to throw longer casts perfect for working large patches of water across sand flats, whereas the 45mm across sand flats is just not ideal especially if the wind kicks up. The other major application of the larger model is chasing Bass, Saratoga and Mangrove Jacks, these are species that you can struggle to tempt with smaller offerings. The size and weight means the PX55f makes more of an impact across the surface attracting these highly territorial and aggressive fish to both notice the larger lure and to strike with aggresion.

All the same species that the 45mm was great for will also love the 55mm version, with the PX45f still being a standout for flicking from a boat around mangroves, rock walls, racks and other structure for bream, whiting and trevally.

So without overloading you on information you can check out both products on our homepage at www.saiko.com.au.

And here are some pictures of both products and short video of the CX40 HS for you to enjoy. For more detailed images please visit the store.

Cranka Lures In Stock

Well we have had a lot of announcements this week, but one we have been really excited about is the addition to the store of products from Australian company Cranka Lures. We will be stocking both lures in their current range from 2010, these are the Cranka Shad and the Cranka Vibe. Both are stunningly beautiful lures and after swimming them in our test tanks it's obvious the attention to detail that has been put into each creation.

They have already been popular on the tournament scene, but we think 2011 is when these will really start to take off with both recreational anglers and tournament anglers alike. For us, well we will be using them to chase bream and skinny water bass this summer and can't wait to get out and give them a flick around.

So here is a few links to wet your appetite.

You can see them in the store here: Cranka Lures

And here are a few pics of the colour range and some video footage of the shad for you to enjoy.

Threadybusters Now In Stock @ Saiko Tackle

We have been sitting patiently on this for a while, but finally we are proud to announce that we have Threadybuster lures in stock. We have both the 60mm and 70mm versions in a range of colours, and we are expecting more stock to come in very soon. Because of our limited supply you will have to get in early to grab this first round available. You can see them here Threadybusters.

If your unfamiliar with the Threadybuster, well here are some quick facts:

  • They are made here in Australia to target Australian species
  • They are a soft vibe lure - so a mix of what is great about metal blades with the softness of a soft plastic (don't let that fool you though the material is very tough)
  • They have an additive scent to attract fish to strike
  • If you plan on targeting mulloway (jewfish), threadfin, barra, cod and other large species then this is a fantastic lure

We are itching to get the 60mm out to target some bass and flathead. I have included a few pictures as well for you to enjoy as well as the entire colour range.

Underwater Lure Demonstrations

Saiko Tackle is proud to announce that we have finished our first round of underwater video demonstrations for the majority of the products in the store. It was a tedious process but we are hoping that our customers enjoy seeing what the lure will look like moving through the water.

Currently we have video footage of:
  • Pontoon 21 Crackjacks
  • Nories Minnows
  • Ecogear Blades
  • Damiki Soft Plastics, Blades and Hard bodies
Obviously many of these behave differently depending upon their applications whether you like to pause and twitch diving lures or lift and drop blades and hop soft plastics. But the footage will allow you to see what it will look like under constant motion.

Being our first round of video footage we know there is room for improvement and we will be updating these over time as new stock comes in and as the production process improves so keep checking back via our facebook page, you tube channel  or news feed on the website.

For the moment the videos are best viewed in 480p and 720p HD. Well with all the being said here are a few links so you can check them out.

Bass Fishing Adventures

First up, Welcome to the Saiko Tackle Blog. The idea of this blog is to inform viewers about our fishing adventures and product news and views. We hope you enjoy our blog, and all of our other content such as videos, images and our online store. Without further delay we will jump into what we have been up to.
So as of today (21/10/2010) we are very close to launching our online tackle store. It has taken us a long time to get it to where we want it and there is still plenty more to come. We will have 6 launch brands including damiki, ecogear, nories, owner, pontoon 21 and yamatoyo. We are very excited to stock these brands on our launch, and we hope you will like our product lineup. We have also been spending a lot of time playing around with video equipment and image editing software so we can bring you some different looking content. Part of this was getting to go out and do some field testing of the equipment last Monday.

Chris with a healthy 45cm bass.
So at about 2.00pm we trotted off to the local weir to chase some bass that had been released from the dam after quite heavy rains in the past few weeks. With camera equipment in hand we had a look around to see what the release of water had done to the surrounding area. There were the obvious dead fish laying around which is always a shame to see, but probably the most interesting find was a 40cm Bass that had some serious injuries, most likely from a fall down the wall. After getting some footage, we shot over to a small weir quite a way downstream from the dam wall. It was pretty quiet when we got there and i think we fished for about an hour without a touch. But as the afternoon rolled on slowly but surely the fish came. First up was a fantastic Bass landed by Chris Gardiner, looked very healthy and after a few quick snaps it was promptly released.

My small 40cm Yellowbelly. Great fun on light gear.
After the first fish the gates opened for a little while and we all got a couple of yellowbelly and a couple of small bass. I think we ended up with about 10 fish for about 2.5 hours fishing which wasn't to bad. 99% of our fishing is catch and release so all fish were released to fight another day, It's always good to find and excuse for a few hours out of the office to. I think the best part about the excursion was that we saw so many people fishing lures, both young and young at heart. Which is great stuff, and says a lot about how popular lure fishing is in Australia. Anyhow here are some of the pictures from the afternoon, we also have completed a test video.....it's not at a standard we like so we might be sticking it in the vault and you will have to wait till our next adventure (very soon) to see some of the footage. It will be worth the wait.
